Message From Chairman

It gives me great pleasure to extend my warm greetings on behalf of the Campaign for Human Rights and Social Transformation (CAHURAST), Nepal. Since its establishment, CAHURAST has remained committed to safeguarding the Human Rights of the people of Nepal, with a special emphasis on Economic, Social, and Cultural (ESC) Rights.
The promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal marked a historic step in recognizing ESC rights as the fundamental rights of our citizens. However, challenges remain in translating these provisions into reality. Questions persist regarding the full implementation of these rights in practice, and it is here that the role of vigilant citizens and civil society becomes crucial.

Understanding this responsibility, CAHURAST has embraced the 3E principle—Educating, Empowering, and Engaging—as a guiding approach to ensure that citizens are at the center of monitoring and protecting their rights. Our pioneering use of technology in human rights monitoring, particularly through the development of the ESCR Mobile App since 2017, reflects our dedication to innovation. This initiative, combined with the publication of the annual ESCR Year Book, has provided evidence-based insights into the status of ESC rights at the grassroots level.
Over the past decade, CAHURAST has grown into a credible institution in the field of human rights, bridging communities, technology, and advocacy. Our journey has not been without challenges, yet our commitment to justice, equity, and transformation has remained unwavering.

As we continue forward, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing human rights and social transformation in Nepal. I sincerely thank our partners, supporters, and community members whose trust and collaboration have strengthened our mission. Together, we will continue working towards a society where the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution are not just promises on paper but lived realities for every citizen.

With warm regards,
Hukum Prasad Pokhrel
